RRCNA Advocacy Update - December, 2008

Dear RRCNA Members:

We’re post-election and pre-inauguration, but Washington is anything but sedate. Presidential transition efforts are moving forward swiftly, including the announcement of Arne Duncan, CEO of Chicago Public Schools, as U.S. Secretary of Education.

Other advocacy highlights include:

  1. RRCNA updates Advocacy Calendar for 2009.

  2. An Advocacy Shout-Out to Abby in Ohio, who used a Reading Recovery note card to congratulate her new member of Congress…and kudos to Noel and Barbara In North Carolina, who are sending a congratulations note to the new governor-elect!

  3. RRCNA resources available for new and returning decision makers.

  4. Inaugural info: Follow construction of the 2009 Inauguration platform on the steps of the U.S. Capitol.  Also see the Joint Congressional and Presidential Inaugural Committees.
