Blueberry Hill Books

The Blueberry Hill leveled storybooks were written by a certified Reading Recovery teacher.  The storybooks were carefully designed to enhance a child's strategic thinking and develop comprehension skills.  The level 1 & 2 pattern stories help develop early literacy skills and reinforce basic concepts such as:  colors, shapes, numbers, rhyme & prepositions.  Stories with a beginning, middle and end start at level 3.  Recurring characters inhabit stories filled with humor and excitement on up through the levels!  The inside cover in each book contains a sample introduction to deepen the sense of meaning and set up a purpose for reading.  A suggestion for Working With Words linked to the new words in the storybook is also included. The questions on the back inside cover can be used by parents to foster discussion about the story during home reading.

The guidebooks offer lesson plans based on research based best teaching practices.  They contain a wealth of additional reading material in the form of poems, songs & Readers Theater pieces.  Also included are games to foster language development, center activities, assessment for learning suggestions, black & white copies of many of the books, cut-apart sentences, high-frequency card games, suggestions for writing activities, etc.

Whether used for individualized instruction or classroom guided reading groups, the Blueberry Hill storybooks and guidebooks ensure the emergent reader experiences success!
