Scholarship and Grant Opportunities
Donations from generous individuals, families, foundations and
corporations provide financial assistance to strengthen Reading
Recovery in the United States and Canada.
All scholarships will be awarded through national competitions
administered by the Reading Recovery Council of North America, Inc.
Completed applications must be postmarked by the posted deadline
date. Incomplete applications will not be considered. *Please note: all applications become the property of RRCNA
and will not be returned.
2012 National Conference Grants
The grants help underwrite expenses for
2012 National Reading Recovery & K-6 Classroom Literacy
Conference registration fees, travel, hotel and
per diem expenses associated with attending the conference.
$1,000 Grants
are funded by the following sponsors: Heinemann, MaryRuth Books,
Reading Reading Books LLC, SongLake Books, Townsend Press, and
two anonymous donors and are available to RRCNA members. A
Minnesota Professional
Development Grant is also available to Minnesota residents.
Deadline was October 15.
Results will be
announced by the end of November.

Geri Stone Memorial Fund Grants and
Scholarships
The Geri Stone Memorial Fund was established by The Reading Recovery
Council of Michigan, family members, and friends to remember the
leadership of Geri Stone. Geri was an active leader and a major
advocate for Reading Recovery and this fund provides financial
awards to help continue her work and RRCNA’s mission "we open doors
to a literate future for children who initially struggle in learning
to read and write." Deadline was September 15.
Teacher Leader Training
Scholarships
The purpose of the Teacher Leader Training Scholarship is to provide
support for the initial training of teacher leaders, which consists
of a full time, one year postgraduate course at one of the Reading
Recovery university training centers. School districts located in
the United States are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
These scholarships are administered and judged
by the Reading Recovery Council of North America
using the following criteria:
• Academic and economic need
• District planning, commitment, and support of Reading Recovery
• Reading Recovery’s fit with the district/site’s comprehensive
literacy plans
• Qualifications and leadership potential of teacher leader
candidate
• Trainer recommendation
Funding for the 2011-2012 training year was made possible by Pioneer
Valley Books and Hameray Publishing/Yuen
Family Foundation.
